Chapter 3

Desperate for answers, Fang Mu pushes himself further. He revisits old case files, searching for patterns. Then, a breakthrough—he discovers a connection no one else saw. The victims all had visited the same obscure online chatroom. A chatroom that discussed urban legends, including the tale of an immortal being that fed on blood and milk. Fang Mu infiltrates the chatroom, only to receive a chilling message: "You are too late. He has already chosen." As fear grips him, another killing occurs—only this time, the police catch a suspect. He confesses to the murders and describes in gruesome detail how he drained his victims. The city breathes a sigh of relief. But Fang Mu is uneasy. Something feels wrong. And then, the unthinkable happens. Three days after the execution of the confessed murderer, a new body is found. Drained, mutilated, and bearing the same eerie message: "He is watching. He is hungry."
