Chapter 1

Every disciple of the Sword Sect is required to go down the mountain after establishing their foundation to undergo training and solidify their cultivation. As the greatest genius in the way of the sword, my master feared that I might be envied and secretly harmed by others, so he specially sought the Phoenix to come down the mountain, asking it to form a bond with me and protect me. When the Phoenix landed on the phoenix tree, all eyes were drawn to it. Amidst the gasps of surprise, the junior sister couldn't help but step forward and gently stroke the Phoenix’s brilliant tail feathers. A fellow disciple quickly tried to stop her, as it was well known that the feather tribe cherished their feathers, especially those with even a hint of Phoenix blood. To everyone's surprise, the Phoenix lowered its proud head, and its once indifferent eyes were now filled with warmth. “No need to be nervous. I quite like those who work hard to walk the path of cultivation.” Oh, it’s talking to me. Both of my parents were cultivators who died fighting against the demon race. My master, pitying my orphaned state, made an exception and accepted me as his disciple. The junior sister, on the other hand, ascended the Three Thousand Asking Immortals Stones before entering the Sword Sect. She had only entered the sect a month earlier than I did. Since she was once a mortal and also the youngest, the senior brothers and sisters took great care of her, and she had everything she wanted. But I never expected that today, she would set her sights on my spirit beast. “Qinglan!” My master couldn't help but call out to her. “That is your junior sister’s spirit beast.” Song Qinglan bit her lip and whispered in response, “But Junior Sister hasn’t formed a bond with the Phoenix yet. And Junior Sister loves me the most. Don’t worry, even if I only want to touch it, Junior Sister would give it to me, right?” Song Qinglan smiled at me sweetly, looking at me with full expectation. I had called her Junior Sister for so long, and now she really thought she was younger than me. My tolerance had somehow become something she took for granted. I took a step forward, and the Phoenix, perched on the tree, immediately transformed into a human form, standing in front of Song Qinglan with a frown, looking at me. “If I form a bond with you, don’t make things difficult for others.” It looked like I was some kind of evil villain, about to cause harm. “Don’t worry.” I casually pointed to the little black pig, which had been lying nearby for quite some time. “I already have my own spirit beast that I like.” My master couldn’t sit still anymore. “Absolutely not!” My fellow disciples almost shook me awake. “Junior Sister, come to your senses!” The little black pig slowly stood up. From its almost-squinted eyes, I could see its confusion: Huh? Me?
