Chapter 9

Before going down the mountain, I had to report my travel route and return date to the Four Corners Hall, and also leave a trace of my spiritual energy in a jade token. This was so that in case I encountered danger that I couldn’t handle, I could ask for help from the sect at any time. By the time I finished all this, over half a month had passed. When I set off to leave the mountain, I ran into Song Qinglan again. She smiled and approached me as if nothing unpleasant had happened between us before. "Junior Sister, I heard you're going down the mountain to travel. Why don’t we go together? This way, Danfeng can protect you." I glanced at Danfeng. His fur was now dull and messy, no longer carrying the arrogant air he once had. His gaze toward me even seemed to hold a bit more pleading than before. I quickly understood their intention. They wanted to travel with me under the pretense of mutual care, but in reality, they likely intended to take the opportunity to "borrow" a few spirit herbs. It didn’t matter whether I agreed or not. The road was wide, and everyone could go their own way. To accommodate the little black pig, I didn’t even ride my sword, choosing to walk instead. Little Black was slow and lazy, often lying down pretending to be dead to try and get more spirit herbs from me. I didn’t mind, feeding him one herb after another. Song Qinglan complained that Danfeng was too heavy and told him to fly on his own. Every time I pulled out a spirit herb, Danfeng would deliberately fly around me, sometimes getting so close it seemed he was intentionally teasing Song Qinglan. I knew it was because the herbs in my backpack attracted him, so I deliberately teased Song Qinglan, "Senior Sister, why does your spirit beast keep flying around me? Is he thinking of changing his master?" I felt a gentle bump on my leg from Little Black, and the emotions conveyed to me showed that he was angry. It was true that when this little guy got angry, handling him was no easy feat, especially when he weighed over 300 pounds. Song Qinglan’s face turned pale with rage as she gritted her teeth and told Danfeng to come back. Danfeng reluctantly flew back, but as soon as Little Black had a spirit herb in his mouth, Danfeng, with lightning speed, swooped in and snatched it away. Danfeng’s graceful habits didn’t change, and while he was elegantly tidying up the herb’s leaves, Little Black finally realized what had happened and let out a furious roar before charging at him. Over 300 pounds of weight, and Danfeng was immediately sent flying. He tumbled several times in the air before crashing to the ground. His claws, which hadn’t touched the earth since joining the Sword Sect, finally hit the ground, getting covered in dust. It was an awful sight for a member of the Feather Clan. Danfeng looked at me with an expression full of grievance and resentment. I couldn’t understand. I wasn’t even your master now. Why are you looking at me like that? "Junior Sister!" Song Qinglan screamed in horror as she rushed to hug Danfeng, looking heartbroken. "How could you be so cruel!" I snapped back to my senses and said, "Senior Sister, you seem to have a bad memory. Should I remind you? Your spirit beast contracted with you as soon as it came up the mountain. It has nothing to do with me." After saying that, I grabbed Little Black, who still wanted to stomp on Danfeng, and turned to leave, all while scolding him, "One stomp is enough, don’t stomp too many times or it’ll make us seem at fault, got it?"
